Nordheim Fjellstue is a family run mountain lodge, which has been in the Nordheim family since 1925, Today it is run by the third generation of the family, Per and Wendy Nordheim, who both have hotel experience. The lodge was extended in 1981 and all the rooms were renovated in 1993/1994. Most of the rooms have private shower and toilet, In 1997, a further extension was added with a new dining room and four new rooms with private facilities. The lodge has large public rooms and many activities including a pool table, table tennis, and TV lounge with satellite.
Nordheim Fjellstue is known for its` warm and relaxing atmosphere, excellent food, top service and reasonable prices!
We also arrange celebration dinners, christenings, weddings, family reunions, small conferences, weekends for; Ski training, school orchestras, business’s etc.
During the summer we have a fantastic nature surrounding the lodge, with many possibilities for rambling, walking through the mountain areas, fishing, canoeing, rowboats on nearby Vats fjord, cycling and bathing either in nearby hotels or in natures own mountain lakes. Horse riding, mountain farm visit, and our popular “Halling aften” are also some of the activities which you can experience. The highest point in Ål is the top of “Reineskarvet” (1780 m. above sea level). Here you will find the well known ski and tourist area – known as “Bergsjø -området". This area lies idealistic between two mountain plateaus “Reineskarvet” and “Hallingskarvet”.
The mountains around Nordheim are fantastic both summer & winter, and only a short distance away. This skiing area is easily accessible with either car or public transport (6 km or 10 minutes drive), during the winter you also have the possibility of coming to the tops with the use of the ski lift at ”Skarslia” 500 km from Nordheim.
If the bad weather takes its toll in the mountains maybe the forest tracks or area outside the lodge are preferable. In Vats it is possible to go skiing from middle of November through to end of April. In Ål there is a total of 280 km prepared and marked ski tracks and two ski-centres; Ål ski – centre 15 km from Nordheim and Skarslia ski-centre 500 m from Nordheim. At Nordheim you can fasten on your skis` outside the lodge door and you find yourself at the start of the tracks!
