The farm is run as a traditional farm with sheep and cattle, and from 2002 we startet with agrotourism. The farm have
about 100 da cultivated land and about the same amount of traditional
grazing land. Additonal large, continuous areas of traditional grazing land
with old stone fences and open plains are being restored.
The cattle are crossbreed with both Herdford, Aberdeen Angus, Charolaise,
Limousine og Norsk Rødt fe. The sheep are of old traditional Norwegian
breed dala. The farm is run in a traditional way, but at the same time
modernised in order to adjust to present requirements.
Sheep with lambs and cows with calves graze in the country courtyard both
at Kvåle and Dalen, and in the forrest during summertime. The bulls, both
younger and older, have their own sperate field. All the animals are free
to walk in and out of the barn, and even at winter they can choose to be
out in the free or inside on a bed of straw.
The oldest part of the house was buildt in 1718, and this part still has
traditional Telemark furnishing. The storehouse on pillars was buildt in
1756, and shows solid traditional handcraft combined with a strong feeling
for esthetics. At the loft of the storehouse there are two poster
beds avaliable. At the farm there is also a log sauna, Badstogo, buildt in
1947. The sauna has two rooms and can be combined with acommondation for
one or two persons. In 1993 "Veslestogo" was buildt. "Veslestogo" is a
log house in traditional style. The house has all modern facilities and a
nice view of the farm, the fields and the village.
Dalen is situated ca 200 meters above Kvåle. The main building
(Halvorsbøle) is buildt in
1963. The house has a hall, kitchen, bath-room and one livingroom at the main floor
and a hall and three bedrooms in the first floor. There is also a small
storehouse with possibility for acommodation for two persons. There is also
an old smie, carpenter-room and the remainings of a mill and a saw-mill.
