Established in a centuries-old farm tucked away behind trees and bushes in a wonderful, quiet spot in a farming area surrounded by the villages Kloosterburen, Wehe-den Hoorn, Eenrum and Pieterburen. Nowadays de BroeksterMaar is a beautiful converted farm-house with numerous facilities. Weather permitting you can have a lovely time sitting on the terrace sheltered by trees in our nicely laid out garden.
Our ‘hostellerie’ is situated at the Broekstermaar, a very quiet stream which was once part of the watercourse of the Hunze river. Many centuries ago, when this landscape still resembled the present Wadden area, these ‘maars’ were the channels between islands and sandbanks.
Hostellerie de BroeksterMaar offers two nicely decorated double rooms. In the rooms you will find a television, radio alarm, a comfortable sitting area and, of course, excellent beds. The rooms join the lounge where your breakfast will be served. This is also an excellent place to read your paper and drink your coffee. Opposite your room you will find a tasteful bathroom with a shower, toilet, washbasin and hairdryer. Our sauna and sunbed are available (at additional cost) for private use.
Our latest asset is the 2- to 4 persons luxury hotel room “De Peerdestal” (The Horsestable) which has a.o. audio-visual equipment, VCR and can also be rented as apartment with a fully equipped kitchen/dining room.
The hotel price includes a very copious breakfast (our show-piece) which will last you until dinner. As a rule Hostellerie de BroeksterMaar does not serve dinner, but we will be glad to advise you when choosing one of the surprising restaurants in the surroundings. Something simple, romantic, a culinary treat or something typical of the Groningen region. Plenty of choice!
