The Czech Republic is a rising holiday country. A country with enormous possibilities. It has an agreeable climate, beautiful scenery, a rich culture and unprecedented sporting possibilities. On top of that, prices are very reasonable.
That is why we, a Dutch couple, have re-opened the doors of a Guesthouse. In the mountains of South Bohemia, at 5 km distance from the Austrian border and at 23 km. distance from lake Lipno, you'll find Dutch hospitality in the middle of Czech nature.
Our guests.
Guesthouse Kaliste is a former country house, built just after World War II and completely renovated and adjusted for our guests.
From the outset of 2005 we are the proud owners of Kaliste.
With our guesthouse we conform to people who want to enjoy all the possibilities South Bohemia offers, but who want to avoid busy holiday resorts. People who love the simple way of life in Czech Republic but want the comfort of Western European accommodations.
People who as an individual, a couple or a group, feel at home in the atmosphere of a family business.
In Kaliste you'll find what you are looking for: peace and quiet after an adventurous day or socializing with the group or other guests.
The Guesthouse has 10 apartments, provided with one or more bedrooms, a hall and private sanitary facilities with a toilet, bath and/or shower. There is also 1 apartment which has, besides the sanitary facilities, a private kitchen.
Besides, Kaliste has a genial bar, a pleasant breakfast room and a cosy restaurant which caters for 50 persons.
The Guesthouse lies above the village of Dolni Dvoriste on the spurs of the Sumava mountains. The Guesthouse stands on private grounds. In front of the Guesthouse is a terrace with a boundless view. You'll find yourself, as a gust, in the middle of nature, jet sociability is guaranteed: in summer with fire baskets around the terrace,
and in winter at the blazing fireplace in the bar, always enjoying the famous Czech beer.
Sitting, on a beautiful summer evening, on the terrace of Kaliste, you can see the sun going down behind the mountains of lake Lipno, whilst in winter, from that same spot, the world and the Austrian Alps, are white as far as the eye can see.
The surroundings:
South Bohemia is known as a friendly, genial part of the Czech Republic. It was hardly troubled by the social and economic problems the country has known. And at this moment, owing to tourism, it profits from economical growth. The southern part, in which lies Kaliste, is an area with castles, fine cities, varying landscapes and a lot of recreation possibilities, especially around lake Lipno. The mountainous area of Sumava, with its beautiful protected nature, offers possibilities for walking and relaxing. To the east lies Trebonsko, a beautiful area with fishing ponds which were layed out in the Middle Ages and just like lake Lipno still provides the favourite Bohemian fish: the carp, every year.
